5 things I love about Moreton Island

Moreton Island is only an hour and a half ferry ride from the Port of Brisbane. When good friends invited us on a weekend camping trip to Moreton, we couldn’t resist joining them.

We walked on carrying our camping gear and walked off onto a sandy beach that led to a sandy campsite and sandy roads. Tourists and residents get around Moreton on Utes (Australian lingo for SUV) with partially deflated tires or ATVs. Oh, and there’s a helicopter pad next to the resort, just in case.

Moreton Island is pleasantly sub-divided into bush land, unpowered camp sites and resort condos. We got around on foot to enjoy the many offerings of the tropical paradise. My favourites included:
